PETERSBURG, VA (February 25, 2026)— Petersburg City Public Schools is proud to announce that last night Latrell Allmond, a Petersburg High School student and varsity basketball player, was presented with his McDonald's All American Games jersey. 

This jersey was presented in celebration of his selection to the 49th Annual McDonald’s All American Games, which will take place on March 31, 2026 at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. 

“Latrell has been a key contributor to the success of our program this year. Since I began my journey as the boys varsity basketball coach, he has consistently demonstrated elite-level talent and unwavering determination. He is noted for the hours I have seen him work, but what makes me respect him even more are the unseen hours of preparation. In addition to his relentless work ethic and fierce competitive spirit, he has distinguished himself as a selfless leader and trusted teammate whose integrity, humility, and unwavering commitment to those around him truly set him apart. He is incredibly deserving of this recognition, and we are so proud of this monumental achievement,” said Tytrail White, Assistant Athletic Director and Boys’ Varsity Basketball Coach.

Each year, high school basketball players from across the United States are nominated for the prestigious opportunity to be named to the McDonald’s All American Games teams. This year, an independent committee composed of athletic analysts, prep scouts, media, and coaches selected the final 48 players from the over 700 nominees of the “nation’s best high school prospects,” according to McDonald’s. 

“On behalf of the entire PCPS community, I want to congratulate Latrell on his well earned recognition. He is a talented, motivated, and bright student who excels academically with a 3.4 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and athletically, as a member of our varsity basketball team. We are so proud of his accomplishments and we look forward to cheering him on during the game,” said Bill Lawson, Petersburg City Public Schools Athletic Director.
