Candidates do not need to take the TEAS test prior to applying to the program. We do not offer TEAS testing on site. 

Thank you for choosing the Petersburg City Public Schools Practical Nursing Program to start your nursing career. PCPS PN Program has a dynamic curriculum designed to teach students both the art and science of nursing in an interactive high-paced learning environment. 

The curriculum prepares 11th and 12th-grade high school and adult students with the necessary skills to provide effective and safe nursing care to patients experiencing common health problems. Upon successful completion of the curriculum, you will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses examination (NCLEX-PN) leading to state licensure as a Practical Nurse. Students are also eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam leading to state certification as a nurse aide upon successful completion of at least one (1) clinical course in the practical nursing program which includes at least forty (40) hours of clinical experience involving direct client care (https://credentia.com/storage/resources/va_handbook_jan24.pdf).

This nursing program is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing, authorized by the Virginia Department of Education. The Virginia Department of Health Professions Board of Nursing does not require national accreditation for Practical Nursing Programs (18VAC-90-27-220).

• 2026-2027 Tuition Cost for the whole program-$11,399 (subject to change)
• Our PN Program is an 18-Month Program broken up over 2 years

Day Classes & Now Evening Classes:

• Phase 1/Year 1 Day: Monday through Friday 7:30am-10:50am or Monday through Friday 9am-2pm (subject to change). 
• Phase 1 Evening: 5:30pm-9:30pm Monday through Thursday (subject to change)
• Phase 2/Year 2 Day: Monday through Friday 8:00am. - 2:30pm (subject to change)
• Phase 2 Evening: 5:30pm-9:30pm Monday through Thursday (subject to change)
• All Clinical rotations are on Saturday's (subject to change)
• The Adult PN Program does not always follow the PCPS District school calendar (subject to change)
   
• High school and Adult Student Admission requirements, are located in the PCPS PN Program Student Handbook below.
• Adult students 18 years old or older must have a high school diploma/transcript that is from a high school accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education or have a valid GED.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is required with an overall score/minimum composite score of 65%. The TEAS test is NOT the only component used to determine admission into the program. We do not offere TEAS testing on site. For more information on the TEAS test click here.
