Petersburg High School Varsity Boys’ Basketball Team Wins Class 3 State Quarterfinals

PETERSBURG, VA (March 5, 2026)—The Petersburg High School (PHS) boys’ varsity team has officially secured its place in the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 3 State Semifinals. After their win against Meridian High School in the State Quarterfinals on March 3, 2026, in a 102-45 closeout, PHS will now advance to the Semifinals against Western Albemarle.
Under the guidance of new Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director, Tytrail White, the Petersburg High School (PHS) varsity basketball team is enjoying an impressive season with a 20-4 record. Leading the team is captain Latrell Allmond, an Oklahoma State commit and a selection for the 2026 McDonald's All-American Game. The team now faces an opponent with a 22-4 record.
"Our team's dedication and teamwork this season has been extraordinary. I am incredibly proud of our players, not just for their impressive victories, but also for the spirit of camaraderie and unity they share. As we look ahead to the Class 3 State Semifinals this week, we remain committed to working hard and giving our best to proudly represent Petersburg," said Varsity Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Tytrail White.
This is the first time the varsity basketball team has won the State Quarterfinals since the 2021-2022 school year.
