Petersburg City Public Schools is partnering with the Petersburg Education Association to support #Red4Ed on Monday, Jan. 28. The #Red4Ed movement seeks more funding for public schools to provide a quality education for all students.
At every Petersburg school on Jan. 28, teachers, employees and students will rally in support of public education. Teachers and administrators are encouraged to wear red, and each school will choose what to do at its rally: signs, cheers, songs, brief remarks, etc.:
Cool Spring Elementary (1450 Talley Ave.) at 2 p.m. starting inside and marching around the school
Lakemont Elementary (51 Gibbons Ave.) at 10:45 a.m. outside the school
Pleasants Lane Elementary (100 Pleasants Lane) at 1:30 p.m. in the gym
Walnut Hill Elementary (300 W. South Blvd.) at 2 p.m. at the flagpole (or inside if the weather is cold)
Westview Early Childhood Education Center (1100 Patterson St.) at noon at the flagpole
Petersburg High (3101 Johnson Road) during all four lunch periods: 10:59-11:19 a.m., 11:28-11:48 a.m., 11:57 a.m.-12:17 p.m. and 12:26-12:46 p.m.
Blandford Academy (816 E. Bank St.) at 11 a.m. in front of the school
Vernon Johns Middle (3101 Homestead Drive) time to be announced
Also, one teacher from each Petersburg school will participate in a #Red4Ed rally at the General Assembly that is planned for noon Jan. 28 and is expected to include teachers from across the state.
