Memorial Day tribute set for May 24 at Petersburg High

Veterans, active-duty military personnel, law-enforcement officers and first responders are invited to attend a Memorial Day tribute at 8:30 a.m. May 24 at Petersburg High School, 3101 Johnson Road. Please RSVP to info@petersburg.k12.va.us to reserve a seat.

This is the second year for this new tradition in Petersburg City Public Schools. Speakers on May 24 will be Capt. Howard Baugh (retired), president of the Howard Baugh Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, and Cpl. Clarence Singleton, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and retired New York City firefighter who volunteered for duty at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Music at the Memorial Day tribute will be provided by the Petersburg High jazz band and choir and by the 392nd Division Army Band brass quintet, which will play the service songs of each branch of the military.
