The Petersburg School Board on May 2 approved the 2018-19 calendar, which is online here. The calendar is designed to position students to succeed academically, meet state requirements and contain adequate instructional time to accommodate potential snow days. Here are calendar highlights:
There are 180 instructional days for students: Classes start Sept. 4 and end June 14.
There are four three-hour early-release days for students. The Feb. 18 early-release day provides teachers time for professional development. The June 13-14 early-release days provide teachers time for grade preparation and end-of-the-year work. The April 19 three-hour early release day is for students and staff.
Parent-teacher conferences days are Oct. 8 and March 1. Both of those days are student holidays. Parents will be able to sign up for specific conference times starting at 1 p.m. Oct. 8 and March 1, with the last conferences ending at 7 p.m.
Thanksgiving break is Nov. 21-23. Winter break is Dec. 20-Jan. 1. Spring break is April 1-5.
