PreKindergarten Registration

Petersburg City Public Schools offers prekindergarten at Westview Early Childhood Education Center.

Registration takes about an hour to complete.

Registration for children who will be 3 years old or 4 years by Sept. 30

Parents must have all of the following items to complete registration:

  • Birth certificate (must be 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 30, 2018)
  • Proof of residency (current utility bill, mortgage or lease;  if you live with family or friends, there is a form that must be notarized)
  • Immunization record
  • complete physical examination (within the past 12 months)
  • proof of income for parent/guardian
  • photo ID

Head Start also requires child’s health insurance cards and child’s dental exam within the past six months.

There are a limited number of spots, so applying does not guarantee acceptance.
Notifications of enrollment will be sent by May 26, then the second round of notifications
will be sent by June 16. Students who are not initially accepted are placed on a waiting list,
in case a spot opens during the year. 10 percent of enrollment is for children with disabilities.

Petersburg City Public Schools offers transportation to all enrolled students.

Parents must attend an orientation in August before their children can start prekindergarten.
