• Greetings Walnut Hill Family,

I am so excited to welcome each of you to the 2020-2021 school year! I am thrilled to work together as we embark upon our virtual education journey that is new for us all. As for me, this will be my sixth year at Walnut Hill Elementary where I first began as a teacher and then transitioned to an Assistant Principal. This is my third year as the Assistant Principal and I have enjoyed watching our students grow over the years. I consider it a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated staff to provide the best educational experience for our students.

I attended Virginia State University to obtain my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and received my Master's in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University. Since graduating from Virginia State University, I chose to stay in Petersburg where I could work directly with the students of this community. The positive learning environment, supportive staff, and vibrant students have prompted me to remain at Walnut Hill Elementary.

As an educator, I value building relationships with students to support their academic growth. When students feel loved, valued, safe, and cared for, they are more likely to give their all to achieve academic success. Our motto: "Building a Better World, One Student at a Time" is truly reflected in all that we do for our students. While we want students to achieve academic success, we also want our students to become responsible citizens and build a foundation for lifelong learning.

Although we are beginning the school year virtually, we will maintain our high expectations, academic rigor, and engagement for our students. Additionally, we understand that our new norm has been challenging for everyone; therefore, we will also include social emotional learning in our daily routine. We understand that in order to achieve academic success we must meet the social and emotional needs of our students. I am confident that through a partnership with parents, community members, staff, and all stakeholders, that we can meet the needs of each student.

Let's make 2020-2021 a great year! It is my hope that we will all remain positive, extend grace as this is new for everyone, and exhibit resilience. If you would like to contact me, please do not hesitate to do so. My contact information will be listed below.
