• Free supplies for Petersburg teachers

    The Petersburg Teacher Supply Closet is a free store for Petersburg teachers. The store opened in October 2017 as a way to support teachers and students. Teachers love being able to select supplies needed in their classrooms. Many of them say that visiting the store is just like Christmas!

    Housed at Blandford Academy at 816 E. Bank St., the store is open 3-6 p.m. one or two afternoons a month. Here is the schedule for the 2019-20 school year:

    • Aug. 20 for new Petersburg teachers only
    • Aug. 27
    • Sept. 11-12 
    • Oct. 8-9 
    • Nov. 18-19
    • Jan. 8-9
    • Feb. 3
    • March 12
    • April 16
    • May 6

    The store is sponsored by the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, staffed by the Deltas and supported by multiple community groups and individuals. All Petersburg teachers are welcome at the free store and are asked to bring their employee ID and a box or bag to carry their selections. How to donate

  • The Petersburg Teacher Supply Closet welcomes donations of new items, lightly used items and money. Here are some of the most-needed items:

    • all kinds of tape
    • white copy paper
    • cardstock in all colors
    • small pencil sharpeners
    • stickers for students
    • whiteout
    • markers for students
    • crayons
    • highlighters
    • rulers
    • plastic tubs or boxes of all sizes
    • Kleenex
    • Clorox wipes
    • hand wipes or hand sanitizer
    • three-hole punches

    A donation box is located in the lobby of the Administrative Offices of Petersburg City Public Schools (255 E. South Blvd., Petersburg, VA 23805). If you would like to host a donation box or if you would like to make a donation of items or money, then email brjones@petersburg.k12.va.us.
