    Classroom Assistance

    • Assist in demonstrations (e.g. mock role-play, directions to a game) and create activity supplies (i.e. cut-outs for games, laminating pictures, collecting visuals)
    • Make photocopies and distribute papers and supplies and sort and stock and paper and supplies and support teachers with organization, preparation and clean-up

    Hallway Monitoring (Middle School and High School)

    • Maintain communication via portable radio with the main office and security who will take appropriate action
    • Support school staff and security with the flow of traffic in the hallways and direct students to the correct classrooms
    • Escort students as necessary to their classroom or the main office when students arrive late or are wandering in the halls after the late bell rings
    • Verify the authenticity of hall pass in possession of students in the hall
    • Inspect restrooms to ensure students are not loitering or damaging facilities (assistance will be requested for opposite sex restroom inspections)
    • Report all damage or writings on the walls to the main office
    • Monitor activities in the cafeteria during lunch break
    • Student arrival and dismissal

    • Eat and build a relationship with students during lunchtime (e.g. playing board games)
    • Support students to enhance social and emotional skills
    • Offer a safe place for mentees to share their stories – academic and personal
    • Use active listening to ensure the needs of mentees are being met and sharing relevant academic and personal experiences if appropriate

    Mentoring (Middle School and High School)

    • Build a relationship with students centered on mutual trust and respect
    • Offer a safe place for mentees to share their stories – academic and personal
    • Encourage inquiry-based learning by providing students with the tools to explore their own thought processes and identify solutions
    • Support mentees in creating an action plan outlining their motivation and goals
    • Utilize active listening to ensure the needs of mentees are being met and sharing relevant academic and personal experiences if appropriate

    School Beautification

    • Plant flowers and trim shrubs and trees
    • Spread mulch and rake leaves
    • Pull weeds and trim around sidewalks
    • Clean the periphery of school building and playground(s)
    • Paint classroom and hallway walls
    • Dust, sweep and pick up debris

    Faculty/Staff Appreciation

    • Assemble care packages and/or write thank-you letters to teachers and staff
    • Host an appreciation event for the faculty and staff
    • Provide in-kind donations to faculty and staff (e.g. gift cards)

    Special Events

    • Support faculty and staff in logistics and program implementation
    • Set up and tear down equipment and materials
    • Check in and direct students to program locations
