Hello! This is Maria Pitre-Martin, superintendent of Petersburg City Public Schools, calling to welcome you to the start of a new school year.
I am looking forward to Tuesday, September 3rd, which is the first day of what will be a wonderful year. As you know, I am new to Petersburg City Public Schools, and I am excited that it is almost time for students to return to class.
Our teachers and staff members have been working throughout the summer so that we are prepared to begin teaching and learning on the very first day of school. In order for students to achieve, they need to be in school. I am asking parents and guardians to help your students develop good attendance habits because attending school on time every day is vital for student success.
I want to assure you that the safety of our students and employees is a top priority, and we work diligently throughout the year to keep schools secure. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, so please speak up if you see an issue that needs attention.
As my mother always said, if it doesn’t start right it won’t end right, so we are committed to starting the school year right and continuing in the right way until the final day. I hope you enjoy this last weekend of summer, and I look forward to seeing our students on Tuesday, September 3rd.
Thank you for your support of Petersburg City Public Schools.
