Greetings, It is an honor to serve as the Associate Principal of Blandford 6th Grade Academy. Blandford 6th Grade Academy is an entity of Vernon Johns Middle School and shares the same mission and vision. I am passionate about educating student scholars and preparing them to become life long learners and productive citizens. I bring 23 years of educational experiences (I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 6 th grades). I have been an elementary assistant principal and an elementary principal.
In each role as an educator, I worked to ensure the success of every student scholar and staff member by providing the best instructional opportunities and supports that are aligned with the division’s expectations. I look forward to collaborating with students, staff, parents, and community members to continue the path of excellence that Petersburg City Public Schools follows.
Coretta Tate, Assistant Principal
Greetings, I am originally from Norfolk, Virginia. I attended Virginia State University where I majored in Elementary Education and received a Bachelor Degree. I received my Master’s Degree from Liberty University where I majored in Administration and Supervision K-12. I have been in education for 24 yrs., all right here in Petersburg Public Schools. Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal, I have taught Head Start, 1st Grade and Third Grade.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, taking trips, watching movies and attending sporting events. We are a family of diehard Dallas Cowboys Fans. I chose to be an educator, in Petersburg specifically, because I want to help young people recognize that they can be whatever they want to be. This is why I have worked very hard to build relationships with students and parents so that we can work together for the common goal of success for the child.
