Welcome to the Gifted Education Department

S.T.A.R.S. stands for Super Talented Academically Responsible Students! Our team empowers students by delivering a challenging, customized curriculum that integrates the arts, technology, math, and science through powerful mediums of communication. We incorporate key S.O.L. goals to support the academic values of the Petersburg School System to provide the optimal learning experience for our students. The gifted student is encouraged to think independently while working in groups, explore open-ended questions, and strive to achieve academic success through a variety of unique techniques. Climbing the canopy of the rainforest among the world's most powerful ecosystem, soaring through the mysteries of our universe, constructing a fully functioning, LEGO masterpiece, designing an imaginary character or location, coding, and 3D printing, and collaborating with like-minded peers: the possibilities are endless with S.T.A.R.S. Gifted Program!

Currently, Gifted services are provided for grades 1-8 at our elementary schools and middle school locations.
